Meredith Monk, an interdisciplinary and experimental artist, is one of the head studies from my collection of a working title ‘My Heroes’ I started in July this year. A series of portraits of my personal heroes/ inspirations, great minds whose ideas were important to me at some point of my personal development influencing my projects, thinking, art and understanding of the society.

The ones I would like to be ‘surrounded by’ in my real life as they shaped it as well.
This journey into the past (thinking) starting from childhood is both my attempt to re-connect and reflect on the particular areas of this time and to pay homage to The Greatest.

The title ‘Between the cracks’, a part of Meredith Monk quote relating to the way she works as a performance artist for me more broadly describes the best ability of combining various disciplines of knowledge and art.

The dark moment of concern of Jon Snow, political journalist, during his conversation with Tai-Shan Schierenberg on pandemic at Sky Arts Portrait Artist Of The Week show has become an inspiration to this work and raised some further questions about the COVID, the role/power of media and the position of a journalist in it.

Does COVID kill the journalism? Does journalism kill the journalist? Are media becoming dis-empowered?

‘Time to Pause’ becomes a voice of reason commenting both the current situation, pandemic and the cause of it, and a personal statement as well.

The portrait study of Jon Snow in clay was started during last year Sky Arts Portrait Artist Of The Week show however has been immortalised (moulded and casted) after couple of months this year.

‘Time to Pause’ can be displayed on a small easel or hang on the wall.

Stonecast high-relief sculpture (originally sculpted in stoneware clay), patina colour finish.
‘Vivir La Vida’ (Spanish ‘Live the Life’) seems to be the message Oti Mabuse, professional Latin America ballroom dancer would like to communicate to us through her dance.
However the title ‘Danza Vida’ that does not exactly translate to either ‘Dance of Life’ or ‘Life of Dance’ while still includes Latin American dance connotation and in my opinion the message itself, adds ambiguity and poetic aspect I was searching for in the name for this sculptural relief.
This is one of the works in clay started during Sky Arts TV Portraits Artist Of The Week show this year which after couple of months I’ve decided to immortalise and thus mould it and cast it.
‘Danza Vida’ can be displayed on the small easel or on the wall (have a hook).
