Untitled
Size:600mm x 500mm
Price:£360
Untitled, Photo Etching, Printed on Hahnemühle Bamboo 265 paper, Print size 210x148mm, frame size 600mm x 500mm, £360 (No. 1 of 10 edition)
Tim Jones is an artist, printmaker, and photographer whose work explores the boundaries of reality and questions how we fit into the world we’ve created. Specializing in Intaglio photo etching, he creates pieces that delve into personal expression and the sense of disconnection he feels in an often alien world. By focusing on overlooked, everyday objects—fragments of reality that many pass by unnoticed—he reveals hidden layers and invites viewers to see beyond surface appearances. Through these works, Tim seeks not only to connect with his surroundings but also to discover the ‘real’ within himself. His art challenges viewers to question their own perceptions, offering a chance to see both the world—and themselves—with renewed awareness.

Infinity
Size:33x45cm
Price:£225
This painting was created by intuition using a palette knife. The turquoise colour is an expression of our connection to water and to the throat chakra which is about speaking your truth. The orange colour refers to the sacral chakra and creativity. Together they symbolise the urge to express yourself through creativity.

Wildfires (V)
Size:30x45cm
Price:£650
This is an oil painting from the series of paintings “Wildfires”. Images of trees on fire, branches and trunks lit up by the light of the flames in the darkness of the night, silhouettes of the trees disappearing in the smoke bringing to mind only about looming environmental crisis, but also wars, destruction and violence, pain, fear and despair which seem to be infesting the news and affecting lives of so many people. I wanted to paint some of the wildfire scenes as collective images reminding us about worrying prospects of seeing more and more landscapes like this in the future and the pressing need to connect with our humanity, our planet and nature that we have been taking for granted for too long.

Fragmentation
Size:32x42cm
Price:NFS
‘Fragmentation’ was inspired by the innate yearning for connection we experience in different forms. While we have conscious control over wanting to connect with others and with with our surroundings, our minds establish connections irrespective of our will. At times these could take a chaotic patterns and create links, where there are not meant to be any, leading to a disturbance to the cohesion of our thoughts and to a disconnection from who we perceive ourselves to be.
The collage comprises of scanned fineliner drawings, words and phrases taken out of the artist’s sketchbook. Unfinished as works of their own, these are brought together to create an image of the journeys our brain takes us on at times.

Gone With the Wind
Size:54x54cm
Price:£450
Longing to be by sea, in need of blue, of movement and texture. This is why this painting was born. The dynamic brushstrokes in the painting symbolise the ever-changing nature of life, the connection to water and movement. The flowing water and swirling clouds suggest a sense of movement and vitality, reflecting the constant evolution of our experiences and surroundings. The choice of lively and fluid strokes conveys a deeper message about the evolving aspects of life, inviting viewers to contemplate the beauty and impermanence of existence and to enjoy the present moments.

Finding Beauty in the Most Ordinary Things 04
Size:30x50cm
Price:£120
Description: I’ve always found beauty in the ordinary. As a child, I spent countless hours creating all sorts of objects and pieces. Growing up with dyslexia, I channeled my energy into creative pursuits. From modeling, dancing, to acting as an extra in a Sam Mendes movie, I’ve always sought artistic expression.
Even during my five-year stint at a hardware store—a far cry from my dreams—I discovered a new appreciation for the mundane. By looking closer, I found beauty in the most ordinary things.
Today, I’m a maker of things, a photographer, a dancer, a student of the human form. This series of photographs are a celebration of the artist’s spirit, their raw, unfiltered essence captured in a single frame. The freedom of movement through dance and artistic expression.

What Lies Beneath
Size:42x52cm
Price:£225
This portrayal of physical masculinity oozes sensuality, from the blue jeans – which of course were pinned into the collective consciousness of society as a defining symbol of male sex appeal following Levi’s 501 laundrette commercial in 1985 – through to the simple tank top with a ribbed fabric quality which allows it to morph to the shape of the body upon which it is situated. The space between the jeans and the tank top, lifted part way up by the model’s hands, gives us a clear impression of what lies beneath, but leaves us wanting more. The thick application of paint for the clothing contrasts with the less dense painting of the skin, drawing our eyes towards the skin and allowing us to easily trace both the fluid contours and rigid geometric shapes of the strongly defined male form. A connection with other, a connection with self.

The Art of Letting Go
Size:24 x 30cm

Moon
Lightning
Size:20x20cm
Price:£95
Moon’s life has been an incredible journey through some of the darkest, most challenging and treacherous places on earth.
Art has been her way to survive.
Born during a bombing raid, date unknown, in an unknown place. During the war in which an unknown number of her people died. Moon does what she can. For whom she can. Her way through this life is to do her best to manage the trauma from her younger years and share the love and passion she has for her new life. And her art.
And she knows how to create art and performance from nothing. In her heart she will always be a street performer and uses the tools she gained from this period of her life to reach out and into the lives she wishes to connect with.

Milk
Size:43x43cm
Price:£30
This piece is a drypoint that I coloured with gouache. It is based on a lifedrawing that I drew at the Southbank Portrait sessions. As it takes me longer than the alloted time to draw a whole face the result was a composite of the different people posing, an amalgam of the people gathered that day. All convening to connect and draw.

Sit
Size:42x60cm
Price:NFS
Digital painting; The inspiration from a lifedrawing session. The body is not just a single form but a collection of marks, layered and intertwined, shaping and reshaping. Each stroke connects and disconnects, leaving behind traces that seem both permanent and fleeting. When you sit, what holds you? Is it the weight of your own body, the fabric beneath you, or the invisible presence of something more?
Sitting creates a moment of pause, a point of contact with the world. The shape of the figure emerges, yet it feels incomplete, as though still forming. What kind of traces do we leave behind, and how do they shape what remains of us? Is the act of sitting an anchor, or does it reveal the body’s fragility, its impermanence?

In the moment
Size:40x20cm
Price:£250
In the Moment
This piece captures a beautiful warming sunset moment in Napoli.
I had been through a few life changes and decided to go on my first ever solo trip abroad.
This is the moment where I felt an overwhelming emotion of happiness and immense gratitude to be there. In that moment, just me and the ocean and the warmth of the sunset, I knew that I am going to be ok and have an exciting new chapter ahead of me. That’s the moment.
Using acrylic paints, the waves gently creates a ripple reflection of the summery Italian sky with bold and intense colours.

Face Of My Ancestors
Size:30x40cm
Price:£550
The artwork Face of My Ancestor is a powerful exploration of identity, heritage, and the complex relationship between the past and the present. Through a striking juxtaposition of imagery, the piece invites viewers to contemplate the enduring influence of ancestry and culture, particularly within the context of the African diaspora. The composition featuring a female portrait on the left side of the board, and an African mask on the right embodies the duality of the my heritage and the ongoing dialogue between traditional African spirituality and contemporary life. At the time of painting I saw this work as a social commentary on the cultural dissonance younger generations have today, becoming out of touch with their origins, forgetting who they are fundamentally and where they come from.

Size:31x42
Price:£150
Yishu during Adrian’s Wednesday life drawing session at Topolski Studio. I used Molotow and Posca acrylic markers on paper. I like that it is a very uncompromising way of drawing, each line stays on the paper and has an impact on the final piece. I like lifedrawing because it teaches me how to approach the naked human body without being sexualised by global culture. It is an opportunity to meet the other person in a clear and calm but also intimate environment.

Susan in a Ribbed Sweater
Size:40x32cm
Price:£250
Susan is a model I’ve drawn many times in life and portrait classes, but I always struggled to get her likeness. I find younger women are the most difficult models to draw accurately, without the angularity of men’s faces or the wrinkles and creases of an older face that provide more landmarks to navigate by.
She kindly allowed me to take her photograph to work from out of class, and after many hours of struggle I finally managed to pin her down.

House on Fire
Size:33x40cm
Price:£110
Art helps me share my experiences, the feelings that I can’t put into words. People tell me that the landscapes in my art are often dark. I have so many memories of being in the dark, not knowing if I would survive the journey. I was 16 when I left Afghanistan. It was an unforgettable experience. I still get pain in my feet from walking and crossing borders, especially in the winter. All the places that I have seen still appear in my dreams and nightmares.

Dead - Bear (our beloved stray cat)
Size:92x60cm
Price:£400
I was ‘keeping a vigil’ over our beloved adopted stray cat Bear, stroking his head as he drew his last breath. A message from Rod came through with the invitation to be part of this exhibition. A short time later Bear died peacefully. Now departed to the cat afterlife, I sketched his furry remains, and from this produced this mixed media artwork.
It seemed to fit the brief of ‘connection’. The unconditional love a human can feel for the ‘stray’ that one day walks into your life and creates such a strong bond.

Dutch Girl after Vermeer, Japanese Water-based Woodcut on Awagami Kozo Murakumo Inkjet Paper, 24 x 30 cm, Edition of 1/5, 2024.
It’s all about connections while traveling and the random people you meet on your journeys. I took this photograph of a girl on the train to Amsterdam in 2017. She became part of the site-specific installation “Farewells” which is about the journey in all its aspects. The bending and folding of cut-out photographic prints into three-dimensional sculptures exaggerate the physique and posture of the travelers. The title was inspired by Boccioni’s work States of Mind: Those Who Go, Those Who Stay, and Farewells. Ultimately in 2024, I printed the photograph of the girl by combining Giclee print and the original Japanese woodcut. She always reminded me of Vermeer’s women deeply lost in thought and that is why I chose this colour palette.

This Too Shall Pass
Size:90x40cm
Price:£599
Mixed media on canvas. This artwork reflects on the transient nature of emotion—whether joyful or sorrowful—and the inevitability of change. The organic wave-like shape symbolizes life’s constant flow, much like the endless rhythm of ocean waves. Layers of paint represent the accumulation of experiences over time, with even the darkest hues allowing vibrant colors to emerge, signifying hope and resilience. The irregular spikes of vibrant, rectangular forms capture the unpredictable moments of happiness, surprise, and unforeseen events that punctuate our lives.
The piece serves as a reminder that, no matter how challenging or blissful life may feel at any given moment, everything is temporary—this too shall pass. The three interconnected pieces function as a whole, with their disjointed connections mirroring the rhythm of life itself, where moments of harmony and disruption coexist.

Whirlwind of Souls
Size:53x43cm
Price:£300
Maki’s artworks burst vitality, a dynamic symphony of human form and movement brought to life through minimalist calligraphic lines. The figures that captured in fluid, intertwining gestures, embodies a dance of unrestrained joy, radiating a profound sense of freedom and connection. The compositions strike a delicate balance between harmonious chaos and collective energy, allowing each figure to breathe and pulse with life.

What Are You Thinking?
Size:40x32cm
Price:£350
A nude study pastel painting done from a bought reference photograph. I was struck by the model’s pensive expression. In life class I often wonder what goes through the models’ minds as they pose patiently for us to draw them. All different, no doubt. The collaborative relationship between artist and model is a connection I am continuing to explore.
This was the first piece of art I made for its own sake, rather than as an exercise for a class. I enjoyed the interesting effect of the iridescent pastel on parts of the figure.

A Tearful Rose
Size:40x50cm
Price:£158
Oil painting on canvas board. The first concept I got really interested in when doing art growing up, was that eyes are a window to the soul. Here the soul is gently leaking. In my current work-mainly writing-I am exploring internal gaps or spaces which we feed with elements of our life. Some years ago a did a pencil drawing with a similar concept with the tears being puppeteered by a hand. Here the woman is connecting with the viewer through her gaze. She owns her tears, her beauty, her soul and her connection to sadness as it turns to joy.

I Do Not Count The Time
Size:50x55cm
Price:£420
‘I Do Not Count The Time’ (2023) is an original acrylic painting from the ‘Disintegration of the Physical’ series; an ongoing body of work in which I attempt to visualise the impact of digital media on our physical existence and how we connect to the world around us. We have never been more ‘connected’, and yet with our noses buried in our phones we have never been more unaware of our surroundings; of the beauty in the everyday and in one another. Targeted adverts; algorithms designed to show you images that you are all to happy to idly consume; the pressure to share & to compare; these insidious, disruptive and addictive trends have only served to divide and distract. Groups of friends or families sitting silently at restaurant tables as they each scroll their way through instantly forgettable snapshots of other peoples lives.
I have always pictured this assault on our consciousness as a kind of death by a thousand cuts, endlessly pulling us away from the here and now and from what truly feeds the soul: human connection; physical touch; shared experience. My work seeks to portray this through an almost surgical deconstruction of the human form. Limbs become inorganic; geometric shapes wrestling with the beauty of the body and threatening to overwhelm it. Vast swathes of the figure vanish into thin air as we inhabit space and time less and less.
The process of creating these paintings is an antidote to my own struggles with phone addiction. The concentration, focus and intention required to create them by hand provide me a sense of connection to the present that is increasingly hard to find in contemporary society. With the ever-lengthening shadow of AI hanging over our daily rituals and interactions, it feels more important than ever that we maintain and celebrate creative practise, and it’s unmatched ability to nourish the soul; to heighten the connection to ourselves, others and the world around us.

‘David’ (2024) is an original ink drawing and papercut from the ‘Disintegration of the Physical’ series; an ongoing body of work in which I attempt to visualise the impact of digital media on our physical existence and how we connect to the world around us. Vast swathes of the figure vanish into thin air as we inhabit space and time less and less.
Papercuts like ‘David’ are a new direction for my practise; after years of making drawings and paintings exploring the idea of ‘Disintegration’ of the self, it felt as if the surfaces of my work were inhibiting the purity of the idea. By cutting them away, and allowing for the images I create to actually inhabit space as objects, it breathed new life into the project and is opening up many exciting new possibilities.

Nasim
Size:32x44cm
Price:£95
Recently I’ve been going to life drawing sessions on a regular basis after a break of many years from making visual art. I look for a balance between finding a likeness and keeping the energy of a quick drawing, using just enough line to portray the subject or imply form. When I draw, I usually start with loose lines and like how these later show the process of searching and exploration. I really enjoyed drawing Nasim, who is always very expressive in her poses.

‘Walking Through Time’ revisits the route, I took years ago, observing the activities along the canal and the towpath, between Paddington Basin to Camden Town, as well as appreciating its industrial history. The branch of the Grand Union Canal and the Regents Canal meet in Paddington, West London, thereafter flowing through the city to its confluence in Limehouse in the east, and into the Tidal Thames. The barges that once transported coal, ice, timber and other goods, now mostly house those who live on the water and those who work in floating offices and other businesses, such as restaurants – including a Camden-based Chinese restaurant, a theatre, also the puppet theatre and the leisurely boat trips enjoyed by both Londoners and tourists. What has changed and what remains the same, and what is in flux?

At the moment the skies are full of modern fighter jets exercising for defence in pairs and the ancient temples are full of visitors seeking devine guidance (using pairs of wooden moon blocks or ‘jiaobe)’. it is a stunningly beautiful place and I don’t think I ever want to leave. In the 1980’s when I was young everything in the UK was labelled ‘Made in Taiwan’. So now I have ‘Made something in Taiwan’ as part of this exhibition.

The process of creating these drawings is an antidote to my own struggles with phone addiction.

This is part of three acrylic paintings: the local pool here in Southwark, kayaking in the ocean, and the pool at my family home in Auckland. Kayaking in New Zealand was always a key part of summer traditions, so when the sun reared its head in London I headed to Little Venice for a paddle about. This unconventional London activity allowed me to connect with friends in a novel way, sharing an activity that I enjoy and reminds me of home.

In My Eye
Size:40 x 40 cm
Price:£395
My desire is to show some magical realism with my photographs. These places, buildings, details are all real but when seen together with the natural elements of light and reflection, it blurs the line a little, between fantasy and reality. No matter what you see, there is always a crossroads of interpretation. This is how I often view things, often interpreting everyday scenes or objects into complex stories, full of colour and abstract detail.
My work has become more abstract recently as I like to imagine I can connect with more people as they interpret my work in their own way, finding their own feelings and therefore in a way connecting with mine.

Who is the Enemy
Size:44x62cm
Price:£250
I was interested in painting as a child and in my teenage years. This painting evolved into cartoons after college and I still draw them today. I have participated in many solo and group exhibitions and received several awards in competitions. Because of my cartoons, I was tried in court several times and sentenced. And because of this, I had to flee to England to avoid being imprisoned and to be able to make art in a free environment. Engraving (etching) and screen printing are some of the styles that I do, but they require a larger space and more tools than other arts, so I still haven’t had the opportunity to do these in England. I find working with children and young people very important. I’ve been to UK 5 years. I built a small workshop in the garden of our house, consisting only of discarded doors. And I intend to continue my art studies there. Art is a method to endear and colour the world, life and relationships

Afterwards she rebelled, organised an army, defeated the rulers and became queen.

Artist Statement:
My work merges surrealism, cultural symbolism, and the natural world to create vivid, thought-provoking compositions that challenge perceptions of identity, spirituality, and the environment. This piece, a striking portrait of a lizard adorned with a halo and wrapped in a richly detailed shawl, draws inspiration from iconic imagery and merges it with an exploration of animalistic and human identity. The shawl’s intricate patterns and text, referencing “Frida,” evoke connections to cultural icons, paying homage to the strength, resilience, and spirit of artists and figures who transcend time and tradition.
Description of the Artwork:
This painting features a large, detailed portrait of a lizard with a golden halo, symbolizing a blend of the sacred and the earthly. The figure is draped in a vibrant shawl reminiscent of traditional textiles, adorned with floral motifs and insc

Woman, Life, Freedom
Size:33x45cm
Price:£200
Art making helps me express my desire for women’s freedom.
My inspiration comes directly from women. My art can imagine their freedom and self-expression.
WOMEN can be confident in their multiple expressions. I am interested in showing the many ways women can blossom. Without fear, women can look smart, sexy, emotional, and beautiful. Women can also be vulnerable, dignified, and defiant.
Through art the expression of other, more difficult parts of ourselves has just as much value. Women also have ambition, can feel under pressure, can be horrible or troubled as well as desirable.
Women in Iran are struggling with their basic human rights. I’m an activist for every woman’s right to live a life free from patriarchal, religious, or governmental discrimination.

Conversation and Consolation
Size:73x97cm

This painting was a response to grief and loss and how when connections with nature are made it is like the most loving and accepting friendship, a sanctuary of calm where you can reflect and heal and it is always there for you. This work is a new departure and I drew from great Artists of the past that I have felt connected with emotionally in response to their subject, their textural application and colour. I wanted to convey a place that is spiritual and beautiful like a Mothers embrace.
It is Oil on Canvas with some oil pastel detail. This is a stand alone piece in terms of style but it does form part of a body of work I have been making over the past 3 Years. It was made in response to my Mother’s death and the complicated and challenging journey grief takes you on.

Federica
Size:21x28cm
Price:£95
This is a recent pencil drawing made in a weekly Sunday afternoon portrait drawing group on the South Bank, London, where about 35-40 artists get together and draw each other for 15 mins. Sometimes members of the public offer to sit for us. I had never seen the sitter, Frederica, before, but in the six hours that I was drawing people’s faces one afternoon (about 10-15 drawings), this was the only drawing that I felt “worked.” What is the connection between the artist and their model? Why do some portraits reflect the sitter, “better” than others? Does sitting for an ensemble of artists in a public space create a different kind of connection between the sitter and the artists? Certainly, it is much less personal. In some ways this can give the person who poses the freedom to express themselves in any way they want. The anonymous atmosphere of the Sunday portrait group may produce a different kind of model performance than sitting for a one artist, or for a small group, in a studio, or in a class. In this case, I don’t think Frederica saw my drawing in the enormous, echoey space of the Royal Festival Hall. So our connection was one-sided.

Mutable Traces
Size:56x56cm
Price:£400
Mutable Traces, 2023, oil paints and charcoal on canvas.
In this painting, I seek to redefine the traces of decay within the context of heritage, challenging and expanding the traditional understanding of heritage. In traditional heritage preservation, traces of decay are often criticized. However, I view them as akin to the fingerprints of monuments, signifying their distinctive existence and narrating their unique story.
Monuments in the former Yugoslav region, following the dissolution of Yugoslavia, have come to represent the things “unwilling to be remembered.”(Jan Kempenaers) The surfaces of these monuments bear traces of decay, mould, graffiti, and more.
Fingerprint, as a symbol of uniqueness and temporality in the works, undergoes changes in shape and depth over time while retaining its individuality.

Artistic Connection (Yilin)
Size:24x33cm
Price:NFS
Life drawing has been a big part of my art practice in recent years. I find it to be a very mindful exercise and when I’m drawing, I’m so connected with looking at the model and the act of drawing that my brain doesn’t have time to wander.
This piece is a digital print of a drawing I produced during a class run by Freeform Life Drawing in Stoke Newington at the beginning of November this year. The model was Yilin, who I’ve drawn quite a few times before. This was a 40 minute pose where the exercise was to use just colour pencils, building the image up from light colours and redrawing over your picture with darker colours. As somebody who normally draws quite quickly and can often fit in two drawings during a 40 minute pose, this was a different experience as I spent the whole of the time on this one drawing. It’s an exercise I would like to return to again when faced with longer poses in the future.

In the past couple of years, I have started to use illustrations as a therapy tool. Whenever I find a new hyperfixation, I work through the obsession by drawing it. When an event, story, piece of news, media, or art touches me, I get obsessed. And that is precisely what happened to me after watching Past Lives by Celine Song.
Being an immigrant myself and leaving my hometime at quite a young age, I instantly connected to the story of Nora, an American-Korean writer, who is now too American to truly connect with her Korean side and too Korean ever to be fully American.

Part of a 100 portrait series, in this painting (completed in oils), I’m connecting to my intuition in regards to the brush work, but also in the colours used. I’m interested in how one can elevate a portrait beyond a mere recording of the sitter to something that is compelling as an image in and of itself. I’m also connecting to the materiality of the paint. Realism is impressive, but holds limited interest for me, I want my paintings to look like paintings and I see visible mark making as a way for the viewer to see and connect to the hand of the artist.

Wildfires (IV)
Size:28x23cm
Price:£500

I did this painting as part of an art contest some time ago, in which we had 1 song out of 5 to choose from, to come up with an artwork based on our impressions from the music. I chose Pink Floyd’s “The Great Gig in the Sky” anthem from the iconic “Dark Side of the Moon” album released in March 1973 (I was born 2 months later!). The vocals of Clare Torry tell volumes there – I felt grief and loss, and pain, but there was also stregth and beauty, even triumph. The painting process was instinctive and fast, and I felt very liberated afterwards.

Finding Beauty in the Most Ordinary Things 05

Rod
Size:30x40cm
Price:£1100
A lifesize portrait of Rod Kitson, Artist and founder of Connect 24 and Isolation Arts. I was lucky enough to sit for Rod’s extraordinary series of painted portraits which is when we agreed to make this exchange. Apart from enjoying his unique face and sartorial elegance, I (we) learned a lot about the human condition while chatting. A wonderful connection made with a very loving man. I sculpt my portraits in clay and cast in plaster, resin and / or bronze. My studio is in Ravenscourt Park, West London.
DEBBIE TEARLE
DAIR
Size:23x28cm
Price:£250
This textile piece has been made using the sustainable materials of earth pigment and soya milk binder.
These stitches using various green threads reference the marks made by ancient Celts. They used an alphabet called “Ogham” alphabet which used the Celtic name for different types of trees for each letter of their alphabet.
This letter is “Dair” meaning oak. It is the seventh letter of the alphabet. It represents strength, stability and endurance.
So in this piece there is a forest of oak trees. I’ve tried to show them at different stages of growth through the colours and length of thread.
I love languages, symbols and their meanings. I hope it adds another layer of complexity to my work. This is one of two pieces I have submitted to this show.
For me this has been a new direction in my work that I’ve been developing over several months and deepens my connection to the natural environment, deep time and human histories.

Sitting Still
Size:35x45cm
Price:£120
Sitting still is a watercolour and dip pen piece created at a life drawing session. There is a real fellowship amongst life drawers. We come together to draw and often stay to discuss the drawing session, the art, and creative live in general. This piece was fun to create and also allowed me to meet a new model. |

A Study of Alex
Size:40x40cm
Price:£330
Oil on paper laid on board. A study of Alex. This painting came about almost by accident. Alex was sitting for me for my painting of “Prometheus Chained” – a series of work examining masculinity through the lens of Greek Myths retold in a domestic setting – this patterned sofa. This painting represents the special connection between artist and model that can transform work from the mundane, and is vital to my practice. |

You Are Not Alone
Size:50x30cm
Price:£160
This sculptural relief work is inspired by Baltic folk art that I encountered during a visit to Latvia in 2018. The piece has a homestead feel to it and resembles something that was traditionally crafted and hung on the wall. In a world where social media makes us feel ever more and more isolated, the work seeks to counter this feeling and remind us that there are always lines and connections between all of us.

Size:A5
Price:£20
This is part of three acrylic paintings: the local pool here in Southwark, kayaking in the ocean, and the pool at my family home in Auckland. This pool is my father’s eternal project, and I love to hear each phase of the process year-on-year. From the Spring-time reveal of a wasteland of dried leaves on the tiles, to chlorinated experiments once a green hue has taken ahold of the water. While many things change at home, the battle with nature to keep this highly artificial ecosystem afloat remains consistent.

My mum lives on the edge of the Cornish moors in an old miners cottage – when I go there, it’s a long journey and every hour out of the city drops a weight from me. Every day I’m there, I walk a big expanse of open fields and ruined quarries where the lichen is ferociously spiky, and the trees are gnarled and cling determinedly to the land from exposure to the elements. I like to walk hard, sweat on purpose and get soaked through with rain like I am cleaning my soul with effort! Sometimes I don’t see another person for hours, and sometimes I get a strong feeling that there are ominous spirits that flare up – irked by my presence on a particular patch – a sudden howling wind will whip me! ‘Okay, okay’ I say ‘Im going!!’
After a particularly difficult breakup where I lost myself a bit, I walked for almost a whole day. A huge loop of a walk that ended me back at my starting point but feeling deeply shifted. It was so comforting to feel that return to myself, and reminded me that my relationship was an adventure. So even though I felt like I was all the way back at the start of a journey, it’s more like a spiral – always going deeper as we circle back round!
I painted this spooky sweaty walk, peacefully and happily at dusk when I got home. My mum had a fire going, and we set up the Mah Jong to play after dinner. Returning to my roots, and my feeling of home – I felt so content to have found my way back.

Made in Taiwan
Size:10x8in
Price:£150
Made in Taiwan, Made in Taiwan. these are a pair made from ‘double exposures’ of some of my travel photos while I am staying in Tainan which is the oldest city in Taiwan.

Size:27x34cm

Hasan was born in Turkey and has been living and practicing his art in London for about 15 years. He loves telling stories by illustrating and painting. Most of the stories and the characters of his art work are inspired by drag queens and many different queer individuals.
‘Power of the telling stories is helping me feel strong and being part of colourful and peaceful life. Painting and illustrating brings me peace and offers me a place to meditate on lights, colours and patterns of the world.’

Me Painting Dom at the Other Art Fair
Size:7x5cm
Price:NFS
An instamatic camera image snapped while I was painting my best mate Dom at the Other Art Fair.* Over the four days of the fair on Brick Lane I painted 10 portraits for my Where Are We Now series, which now numbers more than 500 (one of which, ‘Hugh’, also appears at Connect 24), each done in a two hour sitting as depicted here.
Painting live at the fair was an amazing experience, one of the best of my life. And this is a memento of that time and the enduring friendship with Dom.
*I am embarrassed to say I did not keep a record of the person who took the picture.

The Yam Harvest
Size:50x60cm
Price:£500
This is my cousin Delva, who is a farmer in Southern Trelawny, Jamaica, packing yams to sell in Kingston. Her photograph brought me back to the rural life I had left behind as a child.
The yams create a symbolistic illusion of Delva sorting through wooden prosthetic limbs, which could eventually go to someone who needs them.
One of my family members in Jamaica had their leg amputated almost four years ago due to hypertension. The sale of this painting would go towards purchasing a prosthetic for Everine.
Everine is a retired farmer who resides up a steep hill where he used to farm, in the region of Stoney Hill, Jamaica. He lives on his own and relies on his surrounding neighbours for assistance on a daily basis.
After his leg was amputated he wasn’t offered any care plan or any form of financial assistance to improve his quality of life.
He is like many other persons who have lost their limbs from either diabetes, hypertension or from serving in the armed forces. One in eight Jamaicans suffer from diabetes and four out of every 10 Jamaicans who suffer with either diabetes or hypertension are unaware of their health status. Some of these people who have lost limbs live in locations where they are far away from clinics, pharmacies or supermarkets, making it harder for them to help themselves in some way.
The older these people get the harder life is for them. Some of them are forgotten about, either by the system or by their families, as people don’t see them as some are unable to leave the house unaided or without assistance. Everine has mentioned that losing your limbs can have a detrimental effect on your mental health, it can make you believe people treat you differently in a negative way. My aim in life, is to help those who cannot help themselves. I would like to continue selling some of my paintings to help charities, to help other people.

Music Connection (Mui Zyu)
Size:24x33cm
Price:£100
I drew this piece after attending a gig by the artist Mui Zyu at King’s Place in London this Halloween. It was an intimate venue with the music and visuals being projected in the background creating a real sense of connection with all the other people there. We were here, experiencing this moment together.
I made some sketches during the gig and then created this piece using marker pens, colour pencil and a brush pen later at home. It’s similar in style to my other work, but I experimented with the colour mixing to try and capture the feel of the projection behind the singer.

Resting Blue Purple
Size:70x50cm

Laurie during Thursday’s life drawing session at London Drawing. I used Molotow acrylic liners on A2 paper. I like that it is a very uncompromising way of drawing, each line stays on the paper and has an impact on the final piece. I like lifedrawing because it teaches me how to approach the naked human body without being sexualised by global culture. It is an opportunity to meet the other person in a clear and calm but also intimate environment.

Beyond Confines (S-R)
Size:40x50cm
Price:£250
Created during a life drawing session I ran in 2024 with S-R. I have a history in dance and often work with some very talented dancers and performers. S-R is a ballet dancer and I find her sheer presence transcends the confines of the space she poses in. Working directly and gesturally in this medium has allowed an element of exploration of this, as the figure, form and shapes fragment into marks and drips off the page.

I paint a lot of animals and nature. I like mountains and rivers, the sea and the forests.
I study colour and drawing is important to me because I am quiet in myself. l used to use

but that medium is maybe not good for me and now I just use acrylics. I used to do wood

Butterflies(one)
Size:22x15cm
Price:£10
Watercolour of a butterfly swarm. Part of a series of works – butterflies one and two, and a larger catalog of my work on insects.
Connections – The idea behind this piece was to abstract the butterfly swarm to the degree it was almost unrecognizable, seen from far away. This represents how we see our connections with each other, and with nature.
Note – there is a small scribble in black ink on this piece. If i have time i will try and find a way to remove it or lessen it’s visibility.
Piece will be likely mounted.

Who is the real tightrope walker?
Size:33x45cm
Price:£200

Disjointed Union
Size:30x10cm
Price:£399
Mixed media on canvas. The piece explores the idea that certain aspects of life only reveal their full meaning when viewed as a whole. Just as the individual pieces of this artwork come together to form a unified composition, life’s experiences—though seemingly disjointed in the moment—ultimately make sense when seen from a broader perspective. This piece reminds us that every experience happens for a reason, and only with time and reflection do we understand the connections that shape our journey.

This felt emerged from a rubbing of a seam in a concrete floor made as part of an annual textile workshop. I have worked with this tutor for more than 20 years and her mentorship and encouragement were instrumental in me deciding to do an MA at art school, which opened a whole new chapter of my life.
She has decided to retire from teaching and I have just returned from her last ever workshop. This piece reminds me of all the learning, the support, the conversations and the friendships that have emerged from working over an extended time in a group with other artists.
In terms of the making, it was an experiment mark making with fibre and with basic seed stitches, to see how much I could evoke with minimal means.

Daily lockdown walks round Peckham Rye revealed a small murky pond. Over the months and years, it transformed to reveal hidden waterlilies. Not the Monet beauties but still, bursts of colour against the depths of mud. I have tried many times to capture the layers of colour using washes of transparent paint. Then add the pops of flat colour that appear on the pads. Progress for me is when my painting changes in different light. Surface fresh water has fascinated me throughout my life. It’s been a change to express the beauty I see outside the human form. Many watery pictures are evolving in my work space including some with humans…

The two views of the hyper-masculine, exaggerated form “Hellenistic Prince” create a dialogue between the historical aspects of masculinity and male representation; strength, nobility and power and a modern reading of voyeuristic desire.

Ursula
Size:61x51cm
Price:£225
This painting of Ursula was made from life over the course of a few weekends. It is part of a recent development in my practice of longer paintings focusing on working collaboratively with the model to create a composition which reflects a shared artistic vision. It aims to speak through body language as much as through the formal attributes of colour, line and tone and to capture something of the character of each model. I am particularly interested in combining a disarmingly “traditional” approach to representation with stark geometric compositions, and undeniably contemporary models. Inserting, almost by stealth, the real and everyday, the quirky or surprising into the established genre of nude figure painting.
My sessions with Ursula were characterised by countless entertaining anecdotes, to musings on modelling and body language, and endless laughter. We also discovered a shared dislike of the portrayal of women Henry James novels.

Sea are important to our life
Size:40x30cm
Price:£85
I was born in Tanzania and didn’t know I could do art. I thought I wasn’t good
enough to do art, but I was wrong because everyone can do anything, but only if
you put in effort and are ready to learn from mistakes. I like to do landscape art
because nature is important to our lives, and we depend on each other. I believe art
can be used as therapy and to calm ourselves down.

A Study of Alex (model in the studio)
Size:43x30cm
Price:£80
The practice of the artist working with life models can be complex and wonderful. Sometimes the artist has a detailed image of the finished work for the model to embody; at other times working with the model as they move in the studio creates new ideas and possibilities. This painting captures a moment between formal poses, the model resting and gathering their thoughts but comfortable in the creative environment created between them and the artist; the connection captured in a rapid sketch.

Shadows Tell Our Stories
Size:42x52cm
Price:£395
I chose to portray the male body by painting only the shadows cast upon the skin of the model, offering the viewer the opportunity to interpret the elements of the form which are left incomplete… For me, the title “Shadows Tell Our Stories” introduces a personal undercurrent into the piece as it reflects my relationship with mental health and the role our personal ‘shadows’ – to borrow a Jungian term – play within the ways in which we perceive ourselves.

The Overthinker ii
Size:30x40cm
Price:£600
Inspired by Rodin’s classic, ‘The Thinker’ this piece looks at a problem of the modern age. I often feel paralyzed by thought and overthinking, which frequently stops me from feeling connected to the present moment and other people, taking me away. So this piece is a reminder to be mindful of our thoughts. let them go and reconnect with our present.

Vulnerability
Size:8x12cm
Price:£20
I feel like some part of me is always moving, and so when I sat for a portrait with Rod, it felt good to fidget on paper! Just a tiny boogie with a pencil on the page in the rhythm of our chat – I love how a great conversation can feel like music! Patterns, momentum, inspiration, resonance, tension, surprise! And the contrasting quiet spaces of listening that give the marks meaning.
We talked about art that comes from a dreaming, subconscious, unplanned place – it feels freer, almost only possible by releasing something – more thrilling but more exposed!
It’s just a small doodle – but it’s a soft-bellied connection to a unique moment, and a deep connection between people – both can only be found when you open up!
