**** End of Year Show 25 ****

DEC 12-JAN 20 // INFO

Welcome to the End of Year Show 25! This group exhibition is open to artists of all backgrounds, experience levels and disciplines. It’s the fifth edition of this inclusive, no-rejections show which I have hosted at my studio-gallery in Surrey Quays, south-east London.

It started with the inaugural Art of Isolation back in 2020, which celebrated the creative output of people during lockdown. And then there was Class of 2020 later that year, followed by a similarly titled End of the Year Show and then last year’s Connect 24.

Around 1,000 artworks have been displayed in that time, with almost as many artists involved. The shows usually sqeeze in around 200-250 works of art, from painting to drawing, to digital, mixed media, sculpture and film, all hung in an eclectic salon hang.

When does it run?

It opens on Fri Dec 12 with an opening party and Private View at the gallery in Surrey Quays, and all submissions will also go into an online gallery. There is also an ‘Online Only’ option if you want to submit work but can’t make it in person.

It runs daily until Fri Jan 2, closed from Dec 24-27, and Dec 31-Jan 1 and the online gallery will be accessible on my site during that period and beyond.

There is no theme as such this year, it’s a bookmark to mark and celebrate this 12-month period. Ideally submissions should be made in 2025. I was thinking about technology a lot this year, and how that speaks to artists, how it affects art and its production. That may have affected the design of this year’s front page – stripped back, raw, no fluff, just the message.

The growth of AI has raised questions about how we produce our work. And whether we are threatened as creatives by the rise of artificial intelligence. On a surface level, maybe. But on a deeper, more spiritual level, I think not. Machines synthesise, humans express feelings, emotions, and are uniquely creative in a way that cannot be faked.

So how about we use this exhibition to celebrate how human we are, and how unique and special the human experience is.

Look forward to seeing your work and more importantly, seeing you, at the opening.
